randomly breaking into spring
am getting grease all over the keyboard right now since i removed the back tire on my beach cruiser to get the broken spokes fixed because it's almost that time of year again.
*insert queen lyrics here*
in order to get out from behind my desk, i have also decided to attempt gardening again. any positive, plant-affirming thoughts sent my way are appreciated as green things tend to die in my care.
after this week, there will only be 6 weeks left of this semester and i will welcome summer on a plane bound for cairo, where i will ride a camel, drink egyptian beer, and raft down the nile.
can't think too much about this now. have to finish a semester that is threatening to kick my ass. it will not prevail. i will kick its ass first.
have also been renewed to teach at isu for the next and last year of this degree. one more year, one more year, one more year...
perfidious spring break whispers, "hey, relax. take some time for yourself before you play catch-up," then lures unsuspecting students into doing absolutely nothing all week.
as a seasoned student, i get it and i resist, but free time is seductive. i will now attempt to raise today's productivity rating.
blech.
going to need much more coffee...

congratulations on your renewal for teaching again next year. I am glad I am not one of your students! (that is a compliment)
thanks for the congrats. and you'd like my class; we have a good time. i'm tough but i've had graduate students as profs before and they are notoriously difficult so i tone it down a bit to avoid that trap. i also use more pop-culture readings rather than dense literature, so it's interesting and relevant to folks who aren't planning a career in english.

On your gardening thing- I can grow flowers outside, that's about it. Plants don't last long in my house either.
i did until some nasty flu bug took hold of my insides and squeezed them till they oozed out the cracks. lame. lots of drugs will be needed to make it through the next few days. and starting with easy, "grow anywhere" flowers might be the best way to begin attempt #4 at gardening... which flowers do you plant?
Uh.... I have some tips but from personal experience I would not recommend starting a farm....
